Species Account:

Berghia sp. 1 is considered to be uncommon in okinawan waters as I'm not aware of any animals, either photographs or specimens, taken from the waters of Okinawa's main island. Also, Atsushi Ono reports (pers. comm.) seeing approximately ten animals but only the specimen illustrated above was collected from the Keramas *. Atsushi's photographs are used here with his kind permission. The featured animal was found on the underside of dead coral in the waters off of Gahi Island. Berghia sp. 1 is similar to Berghia sp. 3 in Gosliner, et al, 2008 (p. 404). In addition, Erwin Kodiat's NudiPixel site has a series of undescribed Berghia spp.

The only described species of Berghia on these pages as of the current date is Berghia chaka, photographed by Jun Imamoto. This individual was also photographed from the waters off of Gahi Island as well.
I've also added a second page with two additional images.
