Species Account:

I've not found Ceratophyllidia sp. 2 in the waters of Okinawa's main island as of the current date. Atsushi Ono considers Ceratophyllidia sp. 2 to be very rare in the waters of the Keramas* and reports seeing and collecting two individuals. The above featured animal was found by Atsushi in five meters of water from a small wall on a shallow coral reef. The image of the above featured animal, as well as the second animal linked on this page, is used here with Atsushi's kind permission. I've added an additional page with an image of a second animal, also collected by Atsushi in the Keramas.

In March of 1995 I collected Ceratophyllidia sp. 1 from the water's of Okinawa's main island. There is a discussion of Ceratophyllidia spp. by Rudman (1998) on the Sea Slug Forum, including links to several images of these beautiful phyllidiids.
