Species Account:

        Cerberilla sp. 3 is considered to be very rare in the waters of Okinawa's main island. I've never personally seen this animal here and the photographer, Shawn Miller, mentions the above featured animal is the only one he's seen. Shawn found this tiny subject drifting in the plankton in open water (good eyes Shawn!) and his images are used here with his kind permission. I've also added a second page with an additional image of Shawn's animal.

        Cerberilla sp. 3 is similar to an animal photographed and collected by Atsushi Ono in the Keramas* during May of 2003.

        In addition to the above featured Cerberilla sp. 3, the following species of Cerberilla have been previously featured on these pages:


        * Keramas = the Kerama Islands Group, located 30 ~ 40 kilometers west of the Okinawa capitol, Naha.
