Species Account:

Cyerce kikutarobabai is considered to be very rare on Okinawa as I have seen and collected a total of only three individuals over a period of more than twenty years of diving here. To date, this is the only described Cyerce species that I've found on Okinawa, although several other equally rare, unidentified species have been collected in the past.

The featured individual was collected from an area of mixed rock and coral rubble; there were dense colonies of the brown alga, Padina in the immediate area.
