Species Account:

        As of the current date I've not personally seen specimens of the above unknown Glaucid sp. 2 here in the waters of Okinawa's main island. Atsushi Ono kindly furnished images and data for the featured animal and he considers the species to be uncommon in waters of the Keramas * and reports (pers. comm.) seeing approximately ten animals but collecting only a single individual. Atsushi goes on to say that the above animal was found on dead coral. I've added an additional image of a 5mm Glaucid sp. 2, also furnished by Atsushi.

        In addition, Jun Imamoto (2008) has posted a series of images of a 10mm Glaucid (as GLAUCIDAE sp.3) from the Amami-Ooshima Islands, Japan, which would appear to be the same as the above featured Glaucid sp. 2.

        Glaucid sp. 2 is one of several undescribed glaucids known from Okinawan waters; previously I've featured on these pages the following undescribed glaucids:
