Species Account:

Glossodoris rufomarginata is considered to be rare on Okinawa; I've collected five specimens, photographed, but not collected six others, and have seen perhaps an additional ten others over a good many years of diving on Okinawa. The featured animal, at 16mm, was the smallest of the collected animals; it was found crawling near the reef edge amid live stony corals.

Of the nine described species of Glossodoris found on Okinawa, Glossodoris rufomarginata is readily distinguished from the others by the the presence of a dark brown central notum area emarginated with a white border which itself has a narrow outer reddish perimeter.
