Species Account:

Marionia sp. 4 is considered to be very rare in Okinawan waters. I've never personally seen this animal in the waters of Okinawa's main island and Atsushi has seen only the above single featured animal in the Keramas.* Atsushi found this attractive tritoniid on a sandy bottom in 10m of water near a stand of soft coral. The above image of Marionia sp. 4 is used with Atsushi's kind permission.

In addition to the above featured animal, I've previously shown three unknown Marionia species on these pages. These additional three unknown animals are as follows:

  • Marionia sp. 1
  • Marionia sp. 2
  • Marionia sp. 3

  •         * Keramas = the Kerama Islands Group, located 30 ~ 40 kilometers west of the Okinawa capitol, Naha.
