Species Account:

Nembrotha lineolata is considered to be uncommon on Okinawa as I have collected a total of seven individuals since the first one in 1984. In addition to the collected specimens, I've photographed an additional 11 others which were not collected. One of the collected animals was found in the process of laying a bright yellow egg ribbon (the 89mm specimen from 160ft).

Previously I've featured several members of the genus Nembrotha on these pages and as of the current date, there are several described and undescribed species reported from Okinawan waters. These featured animals are as follows:

  • N. guttata
  • N. kubaryana
  • N. lineolata (the above featured animal)
  • N. livingstonei
  • N. milleri
  • N. species 1
